Completing a prequalification or intake form does not, by itself, establish a physician-patient relationship, guarantee an appointment, or guarantee that a prescription will be issued.
4. TELEMEDICINE AND THE MEDICAL RECORD
Telemedicine visits may be conducted through technology platforms operated by third parties. These platforms may process information required to establish the connection, verify the appointment, and facilitate communication.
Clinical information generated during an evaluation may be incorporated into the Practice’s electronic medical record.
Although we use reasonable safeguards, no electronic transmission or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You should use a private connection, a secure device, and a location where you can speak confidentially.
Telemedicine services are available only when the patient is physically located in a jurisdiction where the treating clinician is properly licensed or otherwise authorized to provide care.
5. PHARMACIES AND EXTERNAL SERVICES
DrWeight Online provides medical evaluations. It does not manufacture, package, dispense, or ship medications through the website.
When a patient qualifies and a prescription is issued, we may share the minimum information reasonably necessary with the appropriate pharmacy to transmit and process the prescription, verify identity, resolve clinical questions, and coordinate dispensing or delivery.
Pharmacies, manufacturers, purchasing platforms, and delivery services—including LillyDirect® when applicable—are independent third parties. Their privacy practices, pricing, payment processing, availability, and delivery services are governed by their own policies.
DrWeight Online does not control how an independent pharmacy handles information it receives directly from a patient.
6. TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICE PROVIDERS
We may use third parties for website hosting and design, electronic forms, appointment scheduling, video conferencing, electronic medical records, workflow automation, email and text messaging, payment processing, analytics, advertising measurement, security, backups, and information storage.
These providers should receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform their services and may be subject to their own terms, privacy policies, and contractual obligations.
Depending on the function used, providers may include platforms such as Squarespace, Calendly, Google Workspace or Google Meet, electronic medical-record systems, payment processors, automation services, and similar vendors. Mentioning a provider does not mean that every provider is used in every interaction.
When required, we enter into appropriate agreements with service providers that handle protected health information on our behalf.
7. EMAIL AND TEXT MESSAGES
By providing your telephone number or email address, you authorize us to contact you about appointment confirmations and reminders, document requests, administrative instructions, care follow-up, form or payment notifications, and requested services.
Email and text messages may present privacy risks and should not be used for emergencies or to send highly sensitive information when a more secure channel is available.
Message and data rates imposed by your telecommunications provider may apply. Message frequency may vary.
You may request that promotional messages stop by following the opt-out instructions included in the communication. We may continue to send non-promotional communications necessary for your care, appointments, safety, legal obligations, or pending transactions.
8. COOKIES, ANALYTICS, AND ADVERTISING
Our website may use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to maintain essential functions, remember preferences, analyze traffic, identify technical errors, measure advertising results, improve content and user experience, and present or evaluate advertising related to our services.
Some third parties may associate information collected through these technologies with other data they possess, subject to their own privacy policies.
You may control or block certain cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some website functions. When required, we will provide a mechanism to accept, reject, or configure nonessential cookies.
We do not intentionally use clinical information or medical-record content for targeted advertising.
9. HOW WE MAY SHARE INFORMATION
We may disclose information only when reasonably necessary and permitted by law, including:
A. Treatment and care coordination
With healthcare professionals, laboratories, pharmacies, and other entities involved in treatment or continuity of care.
B. Healthcare operations and administration
With providers that help us operate the website, manage appointments, process payments, maintain records, send communications, or secure our systems.
C. Legal requirements
When disclosure is required or permitted by applicable laws, regulations, court orders, valid subpoenas, regulatory audits or investigations, public-health duties, mandatory reporting obligations, licensing proceedings, compliance activities, or legal-defense needs.
D. Health and safety
When we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent or reduce a serious and imminent threat to the health or safety of a person or the public.
E. Business changes
If the Practice is involved in a reorganization, merger, acquisition, sale, or transfer of assets, information may be transferred as permitted by law and subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell or rent medical records or protected health information.
10. DE-IDENTIFIED OR AGGREGATED INFORMATION
We may create statistical, aggregated, or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual. We may use this information to evaluate service quality, analyze general trends, improve clinical and administrative processes, develop educational materials, and meet quality or research obligations when applicable.
When information constitutes protected health information, de-identification and use will comply with HIPAA and other applicable law.
11. INFORMATION SECURITY
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, improper use or disclosure, accidental destruction, and cybersecurity threats.
Safeguards may include access controls, passwords, encryption when available, authentication, workforce training, backups, and vendor agreements.
No website, electronic system, email, or internet transmission is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we identify a security incident or breach requiring notification, we will act in accordance with HIPAA, the Florida Information Protection Act, and other applicable laws.
12. RETENTION OF INFORMATION
We retain personal, medical, financial, and administrative information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide requested services, maintain medical records as required by law, meet regulatory and professional obligations, resolve disputes, establish or defend legal claims, and maintain system integrity.
Medical records may not be eligible for deletion upon request when the Practice has a legal or professional obligation to retain them.
13. PATIENT PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on the information involved and applicable law, you may have the right to:
Request access to or a copy of your medical record.
Request correction or amendment of information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
Request an accounting of certain disclosures.
Request restrictions on certain uses or disclosures.
Request confidential communications through a reasonable alternative method or address.
Obtain an electronic copy of certain information when available.
Revoke certain prior authorizations, except to the extent action has already been taken in reliance on the authorization.
File a privacy complaint without retaliation.
Some requests must be submitted in writing and may be subject to identity verification, legal limitations, or reasonable fees permitted by law. If HIPAA applies, additional rights and details will be described in the Practice’s Notice of Privacy Practices.
14. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The weight-management services advertised by DrWeight Online are intended for adults age 21 and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under age 13 through the website. If we learn that information was collected from a child without valid authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it when appropriate.
Parents and guardians should not submit a minor’s information through forms intended for adults.
15. LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
Our website may link to pharmacies, appointment platforms, payment processors, medication manufacturers, messaging services, social networks, educational resources, and other independent websites.
We do not control the privacy, security, content, or availability practices of those websites. Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
16. SOCIAL MEDIA
Public interactions on social media are not a confidential way to receive medical care. Do not post symptoms, diagnoses, clinical photographs, laboratory results, or other sensitive information in public comments, reviews, or posts.
Liking, following, or commenting on content may publicly reveal that you interact with health- or weight-management-related material.
17. MEDICAL DECISIONS AND AUTOMATED TOOLS
Questionnaires, calculators, and educational tools on the website may organize information or provide general estimates. These tools do not diagnose a condition, replace a medical evaluation, guarantee eligibility or results, or guarantee a prescription.
Final clinical decisions are made by an appropriately licensed healthcare professional after reviewing relevant information.
18. DATA PROCESSING AND STORAGE
Technology providers may process or store information in locations outside Florida. When appropriate, we seek providers with reasonable privacy and security practices and establish required contractual protections.
19. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, regulatory, clinical, technological, administrative, provider, or service changes.
The current version will be posted on this page with its latest revision date. When a material change requires additional notice or consent, we will use the mechanism required by law.
